Q: Why no palm oil?
A: This is a complicated issue. I’m including a few links to articles that outline the problem. Palm oil is a very popular oil for soap-making, and in recent years it’s become easier to find organic and sustainable sources of the oil. But there’s still a lot of controversy surrounding these options. There’s no easy solution to the issues surrounding palm oil and it’s production. I reworked my basic recipe quite a few years back, eliminating palm oil, and I prefer the new recipe to the old. So for me, the problem was solved. I hope these articles help:
Q: Can I eat the soap?
A: Seriously. People ask. And the answer is no. My soap is made of all natural ingredients, and there’s no lye left in the finished product, but ingesting soap will still make you sick. Don’t do it. Yes, I know it smells delicious. Still. Don’t.
